PIANO REGULATION
Tuning makes your piano sound right. Regulation helps make it feel right.
Over time, the mechanical parts inside a piano gradually wear and move out of adjustment. Regulation restores the action so the keys and hammers respond more evenly, consistently, and predictably to the player.
I compare it to maintaining a car: tuning is like putting gas in the tank, while regulation is more like the periodic maintenance that keeps everything working properly.
Regulation is a separate, more extensive service than tuning and may include adjustments to hammer alignment, spacing, let-off, lost motion, action geometry, and other mechanical components depending on your piano’s needs.
Your piano shouldn’t just sound good. It should feel good to play.
