Working with Kai Alexander School of Music has been the best decision I have made on my musical journey! As an adult learner, Kai makes this stuff accessible and fun! His ear is incredible, he is kind, and he knows his music up and down. Kai meets you where you are at and uses that as a jumping off point. His focus on basics and making things simple (not easy) are like keys to the castle. Kai is adept at teaching in multiple different styles and genres. I want to learn jazz language and improvised music and his ability to break things down, provide simple exercises, and explain complex musical ideas in a way that illuminates the pathway forward are priceless. I am super impressed with his ability to teach virtually as well. I am a public school teacher and his ability to use technology to enhance the experience is impressive to say the least. All in all Kai is an excellent teacher; I look forward to our lessons every week. Thank you Kai!

Kai has done a wonderful job with our kids, they are excited to go to piano lessons each week (something I always dreaded as a child). He empowers his students to choose songs they want to learn which helps them stay engaged. He keeps the interested and builds upon skills over time.

For the past 10 years, Kai has developed a curriculum that embraces playing the piano without the crutch of written music. Being legally blind has helped a great deal in forming the curricular.
The School Statement
Being legally blind has allowed Kai to develop a fail proof curriculum that involves playing the piano comfortably without the crutch of written music.
His techniques are present in most everything we hear and his students can play in any key.
Reading music notation is encouraged and is taught after the student is comfortable at the instrument.
